Assisted Living: When care support services are needed
Spokane offers over 60 assisted living communities, which provide a broad spectrum of services to older adults. Assisted living provides as much independence for residents as possible while delivering the important aspects of personalized care. Residents have their own private apartments, yet companionship is just a doorstep away. Caregivers visit residents on a scheduled basis to provide hands-on care, and as needed. The level of care services available in assisted living communities varies based on the services offered.
Memory Care for people with cognitive impairments
Spokane supports 26 memory care moderate-sized communities offering round-the-clock care for people living with dementia. Additionally, there are over 60 homes that care for three to eight residents in a home-like setting.
Adult Care Homes: for residents who require a higher level of care
Spokane is fortunate to have 330 licensed adult care homes. These homes are often operated by people who have worked in hospital, nursing home or assisted living settings prior to opening their homes to provide care to a small number of residents. The homes that specialize in caring for people with memory loss tend to be staffed with more caregivers, including awake staff at night if needed.
